Rodericks is shortlisted for Engagement Award
We are delighted to announce that Rodericks has become a finalist in the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ category for the Engagement Excellence Awards 2019, organised by Reward Gateway. The first year of this category, it is designed to recognise and celebrate employee engagement within companies across different sectors.
Jenna Hartley, Head of HR here at Rodericks, commented:
“About a year ago we looked to change the ethos within the HR department in order to approach things differently. HR can be a very strict, process-driven and corporate area of a business, but we tasked ourselves with changing this around.
Human to human
“We took on the motto of communicating and approaching everything we do ‘human to human’. We wanted to change and improve the communications we had with people in other areas of the business. It’s more about freedom and empowerment, proactively helping individuals get the information they need in a way that makes sense to them. We implemented brand new policies and procedures, and re-structured our entire approach.
“This is why the Rising Star Award was so appropriate. We are a year into our new vision and I am so proud of what we have achieved so far. We actually had to limit the number of examples we provided during the Awards submission process as we had made too many changes to include them all!
“Our achievement of being shortlisted was made all the sweeter by the fact that we were up against huge companies and corporations who have dedicated teams and budgets for employee engagement. We don’t, so all our efforts have been made as part of what we do day-to-day. This makes our progress even more impressive. In particular, I’d like to congratulate Christina Regan – HR People Partner – who ensures our vision is translated into our routine protocols. Also, Karen Sarai – HR Business Partner – has built a strong relationship between HR and operations, while Nick Gowen and Gina Linton – our L&D team – have run with our new vision and enabled us to really challenge the norm. Further still, we are the only dental group in any category.
“Engagement with our people is really important to us at Rodericks. This is reflected by how open and supportive the Board of Directors have been throughout the past year. They granted the space we needed to get creative and really change things for the better. We wouldn’t be where we are today without their wholehearted support.”
Thank you to everyone who has helped us make the changes we have over the last year. The winners of the Engagement Excellence Awards 2019 will be announced in October, so watch this space!
