The NHS price list has been simplified since April 2006.

Prices for treatments under the NHS will depend on which of 3 bands the items on your course of treatment fall under.

There are 3 Bands:

Band 1	Examination and maintenance	£16.50
Band 2	Simple treatment	£45.60
Band 3	Complex treatment	£198.00

Example 1

A patient requires an examination and x-ray. This patient’s course of treatment falls into Band 1 and they pay £16.50

Example 2

A patient requires an examination, an x-ray and a simple filling. This patient’s course of treatment falls into band 2 and they pay £45.60. If the patient required more than 1 filling on a course of treatment they would still only pay £45.60

Example 3

A patient requires an examination, an x-ray and a crown or denture. This patient’s course of treatment falls into Band 3 and they pay £198.00.

Patients are able to mix treatment options and have NHS and private work under the same course of treatment. Detailed estimates giving all the options available will always be given to the patient .
